I'm quite frankly exhausted. It's been a long few years, and I basically reached a breaking point.
I've been promoting freedom money, digital cash, relentlessly for 13 long years.
Its been exciting, but I've worked so hard for so little money, stability, and future prospects. And apart from a few radicals, almost no one really cared.
After Bitcoin stopped being used as money, energy towards spending crypto went to a few different coin communities, but by 2020 or so most of that had died out.
I put so much energy into Dash in particular, and then in 2023 I heard that essentially no one was doing business development or marketing, that important comms from exchanges were going unanswered. I panicked.
I knew I had to do something, or the guilt of letting the best freedom money in the world just die out would haunt me for the rest of my life.
These last three years I did everything: social content, partnerships, designing ad campaigns, ad copy, adoption strategy, scheduling and organizing conferences, everything.
Almost every single public and media appearance has been me. I've been not only the most prominent public face in Dash, but pretty much the only one. Not because I want my face everywhere, but because no one else would do it.
Basically, for much of the past few years, almost everything that wasn't directly related to the codebase, I did much of that myself.
The toughest part hasn't been the hard work, or even the enemies and haters on the outside. It's been the haters on the inside. By far.
Probably as a consequence of a system where money is distributed by vote, there's been a constant presence of haters and backstabbers inside the Dash community hoping and praying that I fail.
Its insane: they literally get angry and vitriolic when Dash does WELL! When the price pumps they cry and criticize. Wild.
All this to say, it's been a tough few years trying to pull off miracles while fighting from all directions.
That's why these last few days meant so much for me.
Finally, after years of hard work and struggle, everything is paying off.
All our successes culminated in DashCon and Common S3nse this week, an amazing opportunity to showcase them.
But more importantly, while I've felt so alone, even in my own community, this was a powerful reminder that, with so many of the best people coming together to advance freedom, I'm very much not alone.
Even among these best of people, special and unique recognition belongs to @blockblanc. She cares about freedom, cypherpunk values, and our community more than anyone I know.
She cares so damn much, in thought and action, that it quite literally keeps the cypherpunk movement together. If she didn't, I honestly might have given up by now.
Yes, I'm exhausted after DashCon and Common S3nse, but because we've finally pulled of the miracle of bringing freedom money back from the dead, I feel like I only need a good night's sleep before going back at it stronger than ever tomorrow.
See you back on the front lines. Let's win this thing.
